Annie Burnside - "Soul To Soul" Comments

"We've lived our lives like we're divided, like we're all different. Different languages. Different cultures. Different religions. But are we really different?" This one line from his beautiful book, ICE, India and Old Lovers, sums up who Mike Vecchio is as a human being and why his voice is such a powerful one.

It took only about two seconds for a very real friendship to develop between Mike and me. We came together through our work, which shares the central message that clear inner truth leads to authentic outer expression, but it has been the witnessing of this message lived in the other on an everyday basis through social media that has been so impactful.

I don’t know if I have ever come across another individual who so readily saw the real me. Mike’s capacity to accept me simply for being me has often left me speechless, for this immediacy of acceptance is indeed a rare thing in our world today. No need to prove self-worth with Mike because he understands that worth is an inherent aspect of every human being. And to feel this understanding from another so fully, feels like being showered with love on a daily basis.

Through his choices, Mike is a living example of how to become connected in a society that has become increasingly disconnected. And he understands on a deep level that the only way to move forward is for every soul to look inward, one soul at a time.

Each soul must find and acknowledge who he or she is. This is the journey of Montressa, the protagonist in ICE, India and Old Lovers. As we see through her example, when a soul finds his or her core, we shift the world.

The amazing aspect of this book is that while the story is crafted, all major events are real and actually occurred in Mike’s life. For me, this was the most moving part of the reading experience—a blend of fiction and truth that spoke to my soul. This book offers an undeniable invitation to live in truth that has the capacity to touch even the most hardened hearts among us.

Finding our authentic self is not just for those on a spiritual path. This uncovering journey is for everyone at all times and in all ways. It opens us to the reality of who we are. Mike has the gift of pointing others in a direction that will help them to recognize: What are my beliefs? Why are they there? Who gave them to me? What do I believe about me? What do I know about me? His great teaching is that true self-discovery happens when we understand that what we believe about ourselves and what we know about ourselves is not the same thing.

Mike Vecchio is willing to contribute to the world at large by sharing his authentic voice. He doesn’t compare himself to others. He simply shares his perspective and experience as one possible way, not the way. He is free, and he desires the same for all human beings who desire it for themselves.

Mike’s book will help readers cross over into the territory of freedom. It is our birthright. His life reflects freedom back to us at every turn. It is an incredible honor to know Mike Vecchio and to call him a friend.
